Welcome to St. Francis Inn Ministries

We are a Franciscan, Eucharistic community called to minister with the poor and homeless of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formed in the spirit of the Gospel and inspired by the life and compassion of Sts. Francis and Clare of Assisi, we try to meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing and hospitality. Furthermore, we empower persons to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty and address structural injustices. We seek to build relationships with those that we serve by respecting their human dignity and by helping them to restore hope in their lives, and by living simply among them.

When we deal with addiction we need to realize that it is a multifaceted problem. Our criminal justice system, healthcare and social services providers will have to work in tandem to make sure that those in the midst of this epidemic can still come out of this crisis with their human dignity restored if not intact.

This is what Judge Victoria Pratt learned while presiding over the "worst" courtroom in Newark.

How I wish was there! St Francis Inn is an amazing place that changes so many lives....not only the guests, but also the volunteers. I feel beyond blessed for the many amazing experiences that I have at and because of the Inn. God bless the St Francis Inn...A place where angels roam! ❤️

God bless

Good Brothers and Sisters: I do not know if you are an all male community, or if there are also females. Your ministry of feeding and welcoming all those who are hungry, cold, or suffering truly follows in the footsteps of St. Francis. Here in Tucson, Arizona, I am one of many volunteers who cook lunch for homeless men who are welcomed to Poverello House, a daytime respite center where men living on the edge can come and launder their clothes, take a shower, enjoy a hearty, cooked breakfast and lunch, watch tv, read a book, or just relax for the day. It was founded, and is run by Franciscans. Peace and all Good, Br. Chuck, OSF Order of Saint Francis

“We are Human”: A Short Video About Our Neighborhood and Our Guests

The youth from the Norris Square Neighborhood Project worked on a documentary this past summer on homelessness. The film features candid interviews with some of our guests who are experiencing homelessness. We want to thank the youth from NSNP for doing such a great job in this project!
